Expansion Plans for Our Growing Communities

Being proactive and investing in new technologies – like converting landfill gas to electrical energy for local homes and businesses – is an example of the power of innovative change. Riverbend has been working with local residents and County Commissioners on the best way to plan for future waste management, even as our communities grow.

In December, after considering thousands of pages of documents, many hours of public testimony, and an independent study of landfill costs and alternatives, our County Commissioners approved an expansion of the landfill. This decision has been appealed to Oregon’s Land Use Board of Appeals.

We appreciate the open dialogue we’ve had with residents who took the time to give us feedback, and the time and study the County Commissioners dedicated to this important issue. As we’ve done since 1982, we pledge to continue to be innovative in our approach to managing waste, and we appreciate your willingness to work together as we develop a viable plan for our future.
