A Day at the Landfill
After stopping at homes and businesses to pick up waste, trucks bring what they've collected to Riverbend Landfill.
Trucks stop at the scales to weigh how much trash they will be disposing prior to proceeding to the active disposal area.
The disposal area has been prepared in advance with a two foot thick double liner system that keeps waste and wastewater (leachate) from getting into the soil and groundwater. Click here to get the details on the liner system.
Each evening, the waste is covered with tarps or soil. Operating practices, monitoring, and control systems in place at the site are designed to protect the environment and the sites groundwater and air quality.
We carefully maintain our site to ensure we meet or exceed all federal, state and local regulations.
