An Enhanced Asset for
Yamhill County’s Needs

Riverbend Landfill is developing plans to expand our existing
landfill onto 87 acres of adjacent land. Here are some of the
ways an expansion would benefit our neighbors and
our community.
EXPANSION WILL EXTEND SERVICE TO YAMHILL
COUNTY FOR ANOTHER 20 TO 30 YEARS.
Riverbend Landfill has served the disposal needs of
Yamhill County since 1982. We are committed to keeping
our local communities clean, to recovering reusable
resources from the waste stream and to conserving
landfill space. As our communities grow, so does the
need for waste management. As currently permitted, the
facility will reach capacity in approximately eight years.
The expansion will allow us to continue to serve the
needs of Yamhill County for another 20 to 30 years.
EXTENDING THE USE OF THE LOCAL LANDFILL WILL
SAVE MONEY FOR RESIDENTS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES
AND PROVIDE ECONOMIC BENEFITS FOR YAMHILL
COUNTY.
By extending the use of our local landfill, local residents
and businesses will save significantly. Hauling our waste
to distant landfills would add substantial costs and
contribute to crowding on our roads and pollution in
our air. In addition, Yamhill County would lose valuable
revenues from Riverbend that currently total more than
$650,000 each year in fees, and our community would lose
millions of dollars in additional economic benefits.
THE EXPANSION WILL:
- Extend local use of the landfill for
another 20 to 30 years.
- Utilize an adjacent 87 acres of
land.
- Keep resident and local business
costs for waste disposal affordable
by avoiding transporting their
waste out of the county.
- Extend the financial benefits to
Yamhill County, which currently
total approximately $650,000 a
year.
- Improve neighboring wetlands and
stream habitats.
- Create a natural landscaped berm
to screen the site from travelers.
Protect the environment
by implementing the latest
environmental protection methods.
"With a team of some of
the Northwest’s finest
engineers and ecologists,
we will continue to
employ the latest tools to
protect the soil, water and
environment we all enjoy."

EXPANSION PLANS INCLUDE THE
ENHANCEMENT OF NEARBY WETLANDS AND
STREAM HABITAT.
The expansion is planned on 87 acres of land.
A naturally landscaped berm will help beautify
the project and provide a visual
buffer for travelers. Along with the expansion, nearby
wetlands and stream habitats will be enhanced
with the help of professional ecologists.
BECAUSE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IS A
CORE VALUE OF OUR BUSINESS, WE EMPLOY
THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES TO OPERATE AND
MONITOR RIVERBEND.
Riverbend Landfill has an excellent
environmental record. We live here too, and
we go above and beyond what is required of
us to keep our communities and environment
safe. With a team of some of the Northwest’s
finnest engineers and environmentalists, we will
continue to employ the latest tools, such as
our double-liner system, gas collection systems
and constant groundwater protection and
monitoring. In addition to our own practices,
we are monitored by outside agencies and
regularly tested to ensure environmental safety
in and around the landfill.
WE WILL DEVELOP AN ENHANCED PUBLIC
DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING DEPOT.
To provide a simpler, cleaner and safer way for
the public to dispose of waste and recycling,
we will build a public disposal and recycling
depot with the expansion.

ideas about an expansion, call George Duvendack, District
Manager, at (503) 472-8788 ext 27 or riverbend@wmnorthwest.com.
